Window Blind Choices

Wood Window Blinds

Wood Can Be The Natural Choice

There may be many types of synthetic materials available for window coverings these days, but at the end of the day many people like to go for natural and traditional materials and opt for wood window blinds. These have a really nice appearance, especially when the sun is broken up as it comes through the slats, painting a really beautiful picture on a wooden floor. This article will look at the various considerations that need to be looked at before choosing wood window blinds for your own.

Depending on the decoration of your home you can get window blinds which can set a particular tone, and so you need to make sure that you buy the right type to fit. A full window blind can be great for a traditionally designed lounge for instance, particularly those that are in a natural wood effect. These can also be a great choice for a study or a children's bedroom.

However if you want something for a kitchen or a bathroom, it could be an idea to look for brightly colored kitchen blinds, and it is here that the traditional Venetian blind can be a good choice. Many of these come in very vibrant colors, including red and pink, with the added advantage that some of them can also be controlled by remote control, meaning they can be operated from the other side of the room if you want.

Wide window coverings

These types of Venetian blinds can also be operated manually, using the standard blind cord, though the remote control version is becoming increasingly popular. Sizes range from the usual 32" width, through to the wider 36" blind, and 42" blind, with drop being anything from 45" to 60".

Again, the wooden blind is a popular choice, though there are vinyl and metal versions available, which can add a different design touch to a room. These can be especially popular for a kids bedroom, for instance. And if you are looking for discount blinds, there are a wide range available, including Hunter Douglas, Bali and others. Most of these companies can provide other types including pleated shades and wood blinds for a skylight.

Slats for diffused light

For a classic look, decide on Designview's chestnut 2" wood blind. Measuring 29" x 72", these retail at $48, and are made from kiln-dried Asian wood. They give total privacy with affixed slats, and the natural wood grain goes well with traditional wood decoration, especially the Tiara wood valance. Other options include the 2" Signature wood blinds, which are available in white and also retail for $48. It has a trapezoid bottom rail, color-coordinated slats, and outside valances with mitered corners along with wood tassels. Royal wood blinds are in 2" basswood with a wood bottom rail, color coordinated cord and ladder and 3" valance.

One brand that has been popular for a long time is levelor blinds, since it has a wide range of styles and colors available, and also has some discount styles available. These can be found from online suppliers, and this can be a good place to start your search. And don't forget that the wooden blind can also be used in tandem with other materials, including glass, rattan, and the Oriental favorite, bamboo. As with all design it can pay to experiment, and you may come out with some really great ideas that you had never thought about before.

I bought some vinyl blinds a little while ago but now I am looking to replace them with some wood style blinds, mainly because I think a traditional look is better for the kitchen. This place really has given me some great ideas so thanks for that!

Wood blinds are a great choice in my opinion, and now that I can see how many styles are actually available using this material I know that I am going to use them for my lounge in my kitchen at the same time. I think some miniblinds would be the best choice for me but I am open to other options.
